ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) today (Monday) addressing the Parliament said that the Speaker of the National Assembly should be independent with his decision making and not look towards others for soft signals, ARY News reported.
Speaking to the National Assembly Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari implored the speaker Assembly to issue production orders for the jailed Members of National Assembly, namely Ali Wazir and Mohsin Dawar.
The opposition leader in his address said that the current government was incompetent and forced upon the people of Pakistan rather than being fairly elected.
Bilawal also questioned the decision to ban lawmakers from calling Imran Khan a “selected prime minister” in the National Assembly.
Bilawal said: “Heard the deputy speaker has banned the word ‘selected’?
“It’s quite weird to see you banning one word,” he added, referring to Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri’s move to issue the ruling.
“This ban has been imposed because of the prime minister’s ego. None of the government’s words can be censored.
He reiterated his previous stance to safeguard the 18th constitutional amendment and uphold the dignity and sanctity of democratic values.
He lamented the current parliamentarians desecrating democratic norms and decorum of the Parliament.
Earlier in the day, The JUI-F chief Mualana Fazal Ur Rehman extended an invitation to Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif, PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, ANP chief Asfandyar Wali, National Party chief Mir Hasil Bezinjo and PkMAP leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai for an APC over telephone.
