Pakistan’s opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq in a press conference on Tuesday backs his uncle Inzamam-ul-Haq who is the chief selector of Pakistan cricket board (PCB).

The left-handed batsman while answering to a question about the presence of chief selector during the mega event said, “The presence of chief selector has nothing to do with our performance. He was appointed as the chief selector by the board and it’s his job to attend the event and select the players alongside the captain and coach.”

When asked about the advantages and disadvantages of being Inzamam-ul-Haq’s nephew, Imam said that he believes in his own ability and hard work, removing chief selector wouldn’t affect his performance at all.

“I believe in Allah and will give my best every time. If you talk about removing chief selector so, in my opinion, it wouldn’t affect our performance anyway,” the 24-year-old said.

Both the batsmen admitted that they should have won against Australia at the ICC World Cup 2019, while picking England as their tournament’s favourites.
