ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan took to Twitter on Thursday to give a momentous message on the occasion of 23rd anniversary of his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

In a series of tweets, Chairman of PTI Imran Khan recounted the 23 years of struggle since the party’s creation in 1996.

He wrote: “Today is PTI’s 23rd Anniversary. Our struggle has been the greatest of any party since Independence & gone thru [through] 3 phases: 1st phase was mobilising ppl [people] on our msg [message] for change; to fight corrupt status quo & make ppl [people] aware that a nation only progresses by developing its Human Resources.”

Recalling his journey from PTI’s inception to becoming the ruling party, PM Khan said, “It took 15 years in the political wilderness before my message penetrated amongst the masses. It took another 7 years to convert our movement into a party capable of fighting elections.”

“Now we have entered the final phase: to build Pakistan on the principles of Riyasat-i-Madina – a society based on justice, compassion and the dignity of our human beings,” Khan concluded.

The ruling PTI has decided to organize the main ceremony of the party’s foundation day in Islamabad on May 1.

The PTI was founded by cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan in Lahore on April 25, 1996.
