LAHORE: A massive fire broke out in Changa Manga forest area on Wednesday night, ARY News reported.
According to the fire department, firefighters are stilling struggling to douse the blaze which has so far engulfed 15 acres of the forest land.
Four fire engines are taking part in the firefighting operation.
The cause of the fire is yet not clear.
It is noteworthy that the Punjab government had lately erected barbed wire around the forest to make it safe.
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar had directed the provincial authorities to take measures for protection of the forest.
The initiative was taken to save the forest cover and check illegal cutting of trees and wood theft. The provincial forest department had vowed strict action against people responsible for wood theft.
