HASSAN ABDAL: Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on Monday said a new railway station will be inaugurated in Nankana Sahib this year, Radio Pakistan reported.
Speaking to media men, here today, Sheikh said the station will be inaugurated two days before the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak.
The minister said there are many sacred places for the Sikh community in Pakistan, and they are being well-protected during visit to the country.
He said we welcome Sikh Yatrees visiting Pakistan for performing their religious rites, including Baisakhi festival.
A three-day festivities of Baisakhi festival were concluded at Gurdwara Punja Sahib in Hassan Abdal on Sunday.
Last week, the minister had said the mainline-1 (ML-1) project, to be done in collaboration with China, would provide jobs to 150,000 people of the country.
He said the Prime Minister Imran Khan would sign the project document on April 27.
During an address in Rawalpindi, Rasheed said he would step down if he failed to give employment to 150,000 people after completion of the ML-1 project.
The minister conceded that inflation was rising, but insisted that ‘the situation will get better.’ He vowed the government would soon build nursing college in Rawalpindi.
