KARACHI: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has once again approached the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday seeking his release on bail, ARY News reported.
The high court has issued a notice to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor and others for April 9. The court has directed both the parties to submit a written reply.
The SHC inquired from counsel of Sharjeel Memon that on what basis another application was filed.
The counsel of the Pakistan People’s Party leader said his client was imprisoned since 2017 and he had filed the application on case merit.
He said only three witnesses had recorded their statements out of 50 in the case.
The lawyer said the former Sindh information minister was accused of giving high-cost advertisements. However, he said, according to the new list of advertisements, rates of ads were higher than before.
On March 22, refuting the media reports about reasons behind his resignation, Sharjeel Inam Memon had clarified that he had tendered resignation from Public Accounts Committee (PAC) due to personal reasons.
He had said that it was not true that he had quit PAC due to National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) reference against him. He had said that he was still member of other bodies of the Sindh Assembly.
