BANNU: Six members of a family were killed in an explosion at a house in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, ARY News reported on Wednesday.
A couple and their four children were killed in a blast at a house in the outskirts of Bannu bordering North Waziristan tribal district, local officials said. The explosion took place within the jurisdiction of Haved police station.
A school teacher, Barkatullah, his wife and four children were among the victims.
A room likely to be the spot of the deadly blast, police officials said.
The emergency services and an investigation team of police reached to the scene of explosion immediately after the incident, officials said.
The bodies of the victims have been shifted to District Headquarters Hospital in Bannu.
A spokesman of the provincial government said that the incident happened at the house of a school teacher, seemed to be a cylinder explosion.
Bannu district in south of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and bordering North Waziristan, was said to be founded by a British colonial official in 19th century, was once a British military base used for action against the Pashtun border tribes in the Tochi Valley and Waziristan.
