Pakistan’s former cricketer and head coach Waqar Younis has applied for the post of Pakistan’s bowling coach.

According to the sources, Younis has surprisingly applied for the vacant post and has become the most high profile candidate for the job.

The former fast bowler had served as Pakistan team’s bowling coach for two times in the past. He also remained Pakistan team’s head coach from 2014 to 2016 during which the green shirts participated in World Cup 2015 and T20 World Cup 2016.

After the ouster of the green team from the T20 World Cup, Younis resigned from his post and Mickey Arthur resumed the charge.

Hailed from Punjab, Waqar had played 87 Tests, 262 ODIs for Pakistan from 1989 to 2003. He also captained Pakistan team in World Cup 2003.
